Hypoxic Fire Protection for Archives

Combustible materials cannot ignite where the air contains less than 17% oxygen.

With an appropriate environmental control system (such as b-Cat's ZerOx system) conditions where combustion cannot occur can be created in an archive. Optimal humidity and temperatures for long-term storage can be easily maintained.

Hypoxic conditions make the expense of sprinkler installations unnecessary, as well as preventing sprinkler-created water damage in storage depots or archives.

Reduced oxygen is an internationally accepted method of fire prevention, where people can work safely. By incorporating the necessary alarm systems and safety measures, the system meets the the most stringent labour standards for workers.

The Fire Triangle, above, illustrates the need for FUEL, HEAT, and adequate OXYGEN for combustion. By introducing extra nitrogen, the oxygen concentration is reduced, preventing the combustion of many materials.

Contact Keepsafe Microclimate Systems for more information on how you can use this proven system of fire prevention.
