While simple in theory, in practice, passive microclimate installations are usually only successful when a number of factors are considered. Foremost amongst them are:
- the composition and size of the artefact
- the appropriate humidity level and range desired
- the ambient conditions outside the enclosure
- the size, design and leakage rate of the enclosure
- the use an appropriate type and size of passive buffer, such as ProSorb
Keepsafe Microclimate Systems can provide you with both the appropriate materials, and the guidance you need for their correct use. This could be as simple as consulting a web page, making a phone call, assisting you in determining your enclosure leakage rates, or making an on-site visit. Please see our consulting services page.
We are proud to be the North American representative for ProSorb humidity stabilizers. ProSorb is a state-of-the-art buffering compound for humidity control in museum showcases, and is especially effective at humidity levels commonly found in museum display environments.
